Five Star Sleep-over

Nothing makes you feel your age like sleeping on an air mattress! This past week my daughter-in-law had an early work week so that means I did as well. Anthony wanted to have a sleep over at his house and since I needed to be there by 4:30am I agreed. We blew up the air mattress and he got every stuffy (stuffed animal) he owns and put together our “bed”.

The next morning I felt like I’d just been run over by a truck.. It really felt like the driver backed up and made sure he did the job right too! Anthony climbed up on my lap, hugged me and said “That was a great sleep over Nana, I love you so much.” I’m so lucky! Not only is my grandson wonderful, I am also now aware of muscles I forgot I had!

Friday we also had another early morning. Since all the children were out of school, I decided we could have another sleepover, only this time at my house! The kids were thrilled and before I knew it they were packed and ready to go. We played cards and laughed the night away. The kids were so excited for morning because my sister declared “Café Joan” would be open. She even posted a menu!

Morning brought the smells of Cinnamon Pecan Pancakes with fresh blueberry compote, Thick Bacon, Organic Strawberries and fresh whipped cream, eggs (cooked to order ) , Juice and Coffee (for me!!!). Talk about spoiled!!! She took each order and served them as though they were the most important customers. This breakfast really made the day start well, and I believe its because of her secret ingredient.. Love!

My sister opening Café Joan. The kids feel super special getting treated like VIPs. She does charge them for the service, they have to wash the dishes and sweep the kitchen. They gladly pay their bill! The only disappointment was Karmen’s wish for Chocolate chip pancakes not being on the menu! Kids!

  6. Well, you may be sore, but I’m sure you made memories that will last a lifetime with your grandkids! I still have many memories of sleepovers and campouts at my grandma’s house. I honestly think she (in her 80s) would still spring for a sleepover with all of us… and probably volunteer to sleep on the air mattress. Thanks for sharing your story 🙂
