Play dough (homemade)

My daughter-in-law cant stand the smell of store bought play dough. However, the children love it. Here is an alternative that makes everyone happy!

Ingredients:

1 cup of flour
1/2 cup of salt
1 cup of water
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon of vegetable oil
A few drops of food coloring (Optional)

Instructions:

Mix all these ingredients together in a sauce pan, using medium heat while stirring constantly until the mixture becomes a ball. (Should only take a few minutes). Remove from the heat, place the ball on the counter. Knead the ball. (Be careful, it will still be warm!)
Knead for 1 to 2 minutes, then let stand to cool.

Have Fun!

  1. I love playdough myself – it’s almost therapy to mold it and pound it and shape it. This is a great recipe for home made playdough – I need to try it out! Thanks!
